The best family plans in Cabo de Gata

The inveterate traveller and great travel narrator, Paco Nadal, defined Cabo de Gata in one of his chronicles as "the little piece of Africa that got stranded on the other side of the Mediterranean". It is a special place, with rocky beaches, crystal clear water, wild and addictive.
This post is dedicated to the lovers of this Andalusian corner of the Mediterranean who knew it when they were young and continue to go there with their children to pass on their love for this Cape that is so captivating.
That's why we want to tell you about the best family plans in Cabo de Gata, for those of you who have already enjoyed it with friends, alone or as a couple and now want to do it with young visitors or children.
It goes without saying that no plan is better than the water in these marvellous waters. Depending on the age of the family members accompanying you, the plans can be more or less adventurous. We leave you several to choose from depending on the public:

The pirates' route. A plan that does not disappoint

This stretch of the Coast was known by the name of the pirates' routeThis was the area chosen by the hardened sailors to moor their galleons and go ashore to stock up on supplies. They would then continue sailing for weeks in search of a ship to take by surprise and board in the deeper waters of the Mediterranean.
On the route you will have the possibility to stop in front of unspoilt coves to swim, fortunately you are not travelling on a galleon but on a light boat which allows you to anchor close to the coast.
You can also enjoy a cool drink during the trip, as the boat is equipped with a fridge.

Do you want to know what activities you can do in this area?

You won't have to worry like Ulysses about the songs of the mermaids along the route. It is believed that this name is given to the reef because in the past there were monk seals inhabiting it and it is said that sailors could confuse their silhouettes with those of the mythological mermaids.
You won't find seals or mermaids in these reefs located next to the Cabo de Gata lighthouse. The place, however, retains the charm of transparent waters broken by the rock formations that emerge from it.
The Mermaid Reef Kayak Tour will allow you to enjoy the charm of the volcanic chimneys that form it. The reef can be accessed on foot to a tiny cove that can only be enjoyed at low tide. If you are also lovers of diving or snorkelling, you should know that this area, the most easterly in the south of the entire peninsula, is one of the favourite spots for explorers of the seabed.
