We're pretty sure you've seen photos on Instagram of people holidaying in Jávea and taking pictures of the famous blue door, but where is Jávea's famous blue door?
Being a coastal town, which triumphs for its beaches, coves and coastline... indeed, the blue door of Jávea is in one of its most famous coves, exactly at the Portitxol Cove. And of course the cove is not only famous for the Instagram door but the cove itself is a must to visit in Xàbia.
The blue door of Jávea
The blue door of Jávea that you see every summer on Instagram is located in Cala del Portitxol (also known as Cala Barraca) and is located in an area where there are different fishermen's huts, in fact, exactly the blue door belongs to a small fishermen's house that has become an attraction for thousands of tourists every summer.
Cala Portitxol or Cala Barraca has always been one of the best beaches for the locals of the municipality, but since photos of the picturesque fishermen's house with the blue door started to be uploaded to social networks, this cove has become one of the most visited on the Costa Blanca. This has turned the cove from being Jávea's secret treasure into a public treasure, with its blue door becoming THE INSTAGRAM GATE.
We recommend that once you have enjoyed the cove for a while and have had your photo taken at the Blue Door, you should try one of the water activities available at the Portitxol Cove.
Where is the blue door beach in Jávea?
As we have said, the blue door of Jávea is located in Cala Barraca or Cala del Portitxol, but where is this cove? This cove is not located in the town centre, which is one of the reasons why the coves of Jávea are so charming.
To get to the Cala del Portitxol or Cala Barraca we recommend you to use a GPS, as getting through the streets, paths and parts of Jávea by means of indications is not very feasible.
