The Cueva de la Vela Blanca is located under the Torre de Vela Blanca, do you know where this is? This tower is located in the municipality of Níjar, in the province of Almería. To be more specific, it is located between San José and Cabo de Gata (south of Monsul).
You won't find much about this little sea cave, but we're sure you will. However, the only way to get to it will be through the sea, so you'll have to rent a Kayak in Cabo de Gata and throw yourself into the sea to look for it.
The Cueva de la Vela Blanca is located in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Maritime-Terrestrial Natural Park. Exactly it is located under the Torre de la Vela Blanca, so venture on a maritime excursion to reach it and enter this natural paradise.
When you visit Vela Blanca remember to look for its cave.
For the people who have managed to reach it (I say managed, but I mean "know it", because it really isn't difficult to get there) it has been a fantastic experience. To paddle there in your own kayak, at your own pace and start exploring every nook and cranny of the Cueva de la Vela Blanca. You will want to drop anchor immediately and jump out of the kayak to enjoy the crystal clear and warm waters, being the perfect time to do some snorkelling and get to know the seabed of the area, both its flora and fauna, especially fish such as the San Pedro fish, Galanes, cormorants and other animals typical of the area of Almeria.
There are really two caves, a wider but shallow cave and the other narrow and tube-shaped cave that crosses the mountain and reaches a cove. A place that will undoubtedly make you open your mouth.
If you are not sure if you have arrived at the right place, don't worry because you will realise straight away as you will be able to see a white piece of the mountain, a curiosity that gives the place its name of "Vela Blanca" (White Candle).
You won't find much about this cave on the internet, but we really recommend you take a kayak trip to this wonderful place.
