Cadiz, well known for having the best beaches in Spain. We could say that this province of Cadiz is characterised by its mountains, culture, gastronomy, the colour white and, of course, its beaches. In this case we will tell you about the most beautiful villages of Cadiz, which have to be your next coordinates in the getaway you are planning. And of course, here we also leave you a link to activities in Cadiz to add a fun and active touch to your visit.
Arcos de la Frontera, a charming village in Cádiz
On top of a hill, towards the north of Cádiz, we find this cosy village of white houses and steep streets. What stands out from its stunning natural surroundings is undoubtedly its Santiscal beach, with showers and restaurants, the amazing viewpoint Peña de Arcos and the Arcos reservoir.
Not to mention its historical heritage, which has a number of interesting monuments. To begin with, the Castle of Arcos, located in the town centre, I don't want to tell you more about it because you must see it with your own eyes, you will be amazed. You can also visit other monuments such as the Puerta de Martera, the Convent of San Agustín, the Palace of the Count of Águila, etc.
Vejer de la Frontera is one of the most beautiful villages in Cádiz.
The perfect destination where you should walk through the cobbled streets and its walled historic centre. In this municipality of Cádiz you should create a route through the town so as not to miss any of its beautiful corners, as well as admiring the monuments that give life to this place.
You can't forget to have a drink in one of Vejer's bars and stroll around its towers, castle, church, etc. Although this point on the map is also admired for its Playa El Palmar, the best place to do some water activities, imagine taking a sailboat ride in the Bay of Cadiz.
Setenil de las Bodegas, a very picturesque village
Without a doubt a very picturesque village in Cádiz. What makes this place a very special village and at the same time a tourist attraction are its caves. What is more, the houses fit in with the natural surroundings, so that some houses are built on top of others or sit on the rocks or are located inside them in the streets with different levels of height.
Cuevas del Sol street, facing south, and Cuevas de la Sombra, covered by a part of stone suspended in the air (incredible but true) are its two busiest streets and at the same time well known, we warn you that strolling through its streets is a fantasy.
Visit Grazalema in Cádiz
Location? The heart of the Natural Park of the Sierra de Grazalema. That is, it is located next to the Peñón Grande, where we find the source of the river Guadalete.
Obviously Grazalema was not going to be less, here we also find the essence of the villages of Cadiz with its narrow cobbled streets, beautiful squares and whitewashed houses that give personality to this place.
It also happens to be a very touristy municipality, both in summer and winter, probably because of its historic centre, which is made up of narrow streets, viewpoints, incredible spots, etc.
And so far the list, although I must admit that there is much more, Cadiz is a province that has really charming and beautiful villages but if I start talking I will not stop. This is just a part of what I have 0 doubts that you should visit if you plan to travel to Cadiz.
