The Maro cliffs is one of the most spectacular areas of the coast of Malaga. As it is a natural couple and has an idyllic geological profile, it is a set of cliffs that between each one of them are its paradisiacal coves y beaches of maro.
The cave of Maro
There are many visitors who enjoy the Maro Cerro Gordo cliffs area both in winter for hiking routes accompanied by the Mediterranean Sea at all times, and in summer, its beaches and coves.
The beaches of Maro surrounding the Cueva de Maro or Cueva del Lobo Marino:
- Maro Beach
- Burriana Beach
- Maro Cove
What is the name of the Cueva de Maro?
The cave of Maro is known as La Cueva del Lobo Marino. It is a cave located 200 metres before Burriana beach. It is a marine cavity cave, so the best way to get there is through the sea. In fact, I visited this cave on the kayak excursion to the cave of Maro and I think it was the best choice.
If you go abseiling or climbing, this is also an option, but much more risky. If you go with children or if you like the sea, I strongly recommend you to either rent a kayak on the beach of Maro or take the kayak tour.
In this cavity there are several saltwater lakes. Inside its underground beaches we can enjoy some marvellous corners that nature has built over thousands of years and where we can bathe or listen to the waves breaking on the cliffs.
The Maro Waterfall, a jewel near the Cave of Maro
This waterfall comes from Las Grutas de Nerja through the torrent Sanguino also called Campillo River. It is one of the most hidden places in this natural site of the Maro Cerro Gordo cliffs. The unique combination of sea and mountain gives this place a mythical and legendary atmosphere that invites you to dream.
