The beach of Maro is one of the best known beaches in Malaga and is a must on your travel itinerary. If you are coming to Malaga, it is a "must" to visit the beach of Maro in the district of Nerja.
Why? It is one of the beaches with the most crystalline waters in the area and also, thanks to its strategic location, you will discover an authentic natural spot. It is a beach that is hidden among a cliffy area, known as the cliffs of Maro.
If you like to discover magical places, we recommend that you visit the beach of Maro between the months of May and October, you take a kayaking and discover the famous maro waterfall. One of the most magical areas of the Costa del Sol. I assure you that you will not leave you indifferent to do this route.
Cliffs of Maro, the arms that guard the beach of Maro.
If you like diving or snorkelling, Maro beach is one of the best options, in fact you can do it together with the family. All you have to do is put on a mask and snorkel and put your head underwater. You will almost certainly see some marine life, as the marine flora and fauna of the Maro area is one of the most striking in the area.
A few metres from the beach of Maro, you will see the famous Maro Cliffs. These large geological formations are home to the famous waterfalls of Nerja. There are several rivers that end their course here, giving rise to spectacular waterfalls, as does the Guaro River. The largest are the Cascada de La Doncella and the Cascada Grande de Maro.
Barranco de Maro Cove
It is located at the mouth of the Barranco de Maro ravine, a tiny cove that is difficult to access.
This cove is more interesting for its spectacular shape than for bathing. You will have to park your car and walk several kilometres along paths surrounded by reed beds and subtropical crops, where the use of sports shoes is advisable.
La Caleta de Maro or Cala Chica
The Maro CoveMaro Beach, not to be confused with Maro Beach, is one of the most famous coves in Andalusia. It is a cove that was named the second best beach in Spain. This appointment has made this cove one of the places with the highest demand of visitors.
This, together with the fact that it is a very small cove, means that if you want to swim there you will have to get up early. You should also bear in mind that it is a cove that has no restaurants or beach bars where you can eat.

Water sports at Maro Beach
The beach of Maro is one of the favourite places for water sports lovers, as it is a very quiet place and with a simple kayak or paddle surf board you will discover paradisiacal spots.
If you want to discover the famous caves of Nerja, or the waterfall of Maro, the best option I recommend you is to take a guided kayak excursion to the waterfall of Maro and during the 3 hours that the activity lasts, you will be amazed by the marvellous scenery that they will show you.
