Access to Ambolo Cove

Access to the Ambolo cove in Jávea is dangerous and we have a duty to tell you that, in fact, access to it is forbidden. But we want to explain you how to access it and how to enjoy its turquoise waters.

Not being able to reach the Ambolo Cove It is a real pity because it is undoubtedly a beach with a lot of magic and a special attraction. It is a very exclusive cove due to its surroundings and its waters.

How to get to Ambolo cove

It is possible that Cala Ambolo is not as well known as other beaches and coves in the municipality due to its difficult or forbidden access, but those who know it know that it is one of the best, and for many, the best.

The cove is located in the southernmost part of Jávea, exactly between Cala Granadella and Cala Portixol (two of the most famous coves in Jávea). To get to Ambolo you will have to follow the same road as Portitxol until you reach a long, straight road, i.e. the road to Cabo de la Nao. Follow this road until you reach a roundabout on the right, and there you will see the sign for Cala Ambolo. Just follow it, but the final stop with the gps will be Richard Wagner street.

There is no parking in this area, so you usually park on the side of the road and then you will have to walk down to Cala Ambolo for about 10 minutes.

Reaching Cala el Ambolo safely

If, at your own risk, you wish to access the Ambolo Cove, we ask that when you go down the path below you do so from the inside and that you do not get too close to the edge, as this is an area where there is a danger of landslides.

The safest way to get to the cove is by sea, and the most fun way is with a kayak, which is the most common way to get around the coves and caves of the coast of Xàbia. Here you have the Kayak rental in the Portitxol Covefrom where you can start your route to Cala Ambolo. And if you want another more comfortable plan, for the simple fact of not rowing, but in which you can enjoy Cala Ambolo in the same or better way, it is with the boat excursion to Ambolo cove itself

The cove is about 30 or 40 metres long and 10 metres wide, so as you can see it is quite a small cove. In addition to crystal clear, turquoise waters, this cove has more charms, for example, the Isla del Descubridor, which is a protruding rock that juts out into the sea and which you can easily reach by swimming.

Once you have reached Ambolo cove, take advantage of its clear waters to snorkel or dive, as its seabed is rich in posidonia. You will find sea urchins, octopus, starfish, fish, etc... And of course, if the water is warm, keep an eye out for the fascinating jellyfish.
