What to see in Fuengirola in one day?

We found this charming town in Malaga, which belongs to the Costa del Sol, quite popular due to its sandy beaches. The places that form Fuengirola have an essence that represents historical richness, that is to say, it has a great cultural value. But it also has a variety of impressive places to visit, one could say that this southern municipality is a "top" place to spend a holiday or a short break.

Now we tell you what to do in one day once you arrive in Fuengirola, a beautiful coastal town.

Get to know the old town of Fuengirola

One of the things to see in Fuengirola in one day is La Plaza de La Constitución which is the most symbolic square of this town and is located in the heart of the old town. In this square you can see the monument to the Three Generations, an impressive fountain and the oldest church in Fuengirola, better known as the Church of Our Lady of the Rosary.

But the best thing is what you can do after visiting this magnificent part of here, it turns out that the surroundings of this well-known square are full of bars where you can have a tapa and taste the delicious typical food of Fuengirola, definitely something you must try before ending your trip in this destination. Another charming square, located in the heart of this welcoming municipality, is the Plaza de los Reyes Católicos.

This Moorish defensive fortress is located at one end of the town, on Calle Tartesos, with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the mouth of the river Fuengirola. There is also a car park just a few metres from the castle, but to get to the entrance you will have to climb a small cobbled slope (the entrance is completely free of charge). Nowadays the Sohail Castle hosts festivals, events, concerts and a medieval market in summer.

Visit to the wildlife of the Bioparc, Fuengirola

If you happen to be travelling with children they will surely love this activity, it is a nature reserve with breeding programmes, enclosure spaces and some souvenir shops. You could say that to visit this place is to enter a real documentary in the deepest and most intense part of a tropical forest. Moreover, this Bioparc runs a new model of zoo that is based on respect for nature and the preservation of its species.

Indispensable in Fuengirola: Don't forget to go to the promenade.

Fuengirola has a coastal strip of about 8km long, so it has an incredible long promenade that connects with the different beaches. You can take a stroll along the promenade and try an ice cream or if you prefer you can also cycle along the promenade and at the same time enjoy the immense and beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea. By the way, we recommend that you and your companion try the beach bars and restaurants in the area, you will love the typical food here.

The truth is that this promenade is more like an open-air museum, as you won't stop coming across monuments and sculptures.

At night there is quite a lot of atmosphere on the promenade, as it is a perfect place for nightlife due to the numerous pubs and bars. So if you are a fan of nightlife, don't hesitate to come here and have fun in this area of Fuengirola.
