Routes through Moraira

If you are looking for some routes in or around Moraira today we want to bring you some of them with which you can take a walk or a route where you will find, inevitably, with amazing views. We are going to give you a light route to go for a walk and visit the viewpoints of Moraira and another more active and physical route to reach the Cap d'Or viewpoint, where you will also, without being able to avoid it, enjoy and contemplate the views of Moraira from the heights.

The route of Moraira and its viewpoints

One of the routes through Moraira is the one of its viewpoints, and for this you don't need to wear super suitable clothes or be in incredible physical condition, far from it. We are going to start this route from the Portet Beach and we'll finish it at Calle Túnez, a route with panoramic views that will keep you open-mouthed all the time.

As you know, the beach of El Portet has crystal clear, turquoise waters, fine sand and a very comfortable shore to access. From here, especially if you look to the right, you'll have a view of a movie scene with its shell-shaped and mountainous background, and you'll probably wish for a second that you could buy one of the houses or flats around it (hopefully you can...).

To continue with the routes in Moraira, specifically this route of the viewpoints, we will leave the Portet beach by going off to the right and continuing along the ramp that you will see. Now all we have to do is follow this path and we will arrive at the Portitxol viewpoint. Ideally, you should do this route in good time so that you can go down the stairs from here that lead to the Portitxolet cove, a quiet cove where we recommend you come back another day with more time to enjoy one of the most beautiful coves in Moraira.

We continue with the route, now leaving the Portitxol viewpoint we will continue along some stairs that take us to the historic centre of Moraira. There are two options for this, one is to walk along the coast towards the castle esplanade, and the other is to go through the narrow streets of the town to also go out onto the castle esplanade. As we told you at the beginning that this is an easy and comfortable route, we are going to follow it through the narrow streets of Moraira so that you can stop for an ice-cream in one of the ice-cream parlours in the old town. Although if you're going along the coast, don't worry, it's still easy.

Do you want to know what activities you can do in this area?

When you arrive at Moraira Castle, if you feel like it, you can continue to the right (looking towards the sea) where you will immediately come across the Ampolla beach. Here we advise you to stop a little at the farthest part of the water, where you will find the "Marjal del Senillar", a small wetland with ducks and some birds. But this is only for a moment, then you can continue your route to the end of the beach where you will find the "Mirador de los Tosqueres" with a great view of the beach and the castle that we have left behind. We will continue walking along a comfortable and quiet pavement until we reach Les Platgetes beach, with a surrounding area full of gardens and a small esplanade with benches to rest from your route or stop to contemplate the views and watch the people passing by. It seems like a plan for older people, but the reality is that it's a very cool thing to do.

To finish this route, if we continue a little further and pass the beaches below the viewpoint of les playetes, we will reach the Mirador de l'Andragó, where we will also find a cove with the same name. Without a doubt it is a route with views and stops at the beautiful coves of Moraira.

If you have more time on another day, we also recommend that you do one of the water sports activities.

Cap d'Or route in Moraira

One of the most popular routes in Moraira for hikers is the route to the Cap d'Or watchtower and, as you might guess, the route ends up at the watchtower. This route is actually of low difficulty, but we do recommend that you wear trainers and go with something comfortable and prepared. The round trip is a total of 3 kilometres. The route starts in Calle Puerto Lápice and goes up to C/ Puerto del Sol and C/ Puerto de Alcudia, the latter has no exit but from here there is a signpost indicating the route. You will be able to see that the route is signposted along the path.

This is a very easy route, in fact you will come back the same way you came up, but we recommend that you stay a while in the Torre area to enjoy the spectacular views of the landscape from the Portet de Moraira and the views towards the Peñón de Ifach, the Oltà mountain range and the Sierra de Bernia... a postcard view, like almost everything in Moraira.
