The Mónsul BeachWhen you see it, it is possible that it will ring a bell. This beach is one of the most famous in the Natural Park because it has been featured in several films. It is a rather unique beach due to the eroded lava formations that surround the area, as well as the crystal clear, clean water and fine sand.
A stupendous beach of volcanic origin, unspoilt and quiet, about 300 metres long and 50 metres wide. And the best thing, for many, is that the water is not so cold, as it is shallow, so it feels "warmer".
Mónsul beach is the most famous beach in Almería.
As we have mentioned before, it is very famous because it has been the spot of some advertisements and for being in some scenes of films like "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade", or in "The Neverending Story" and "Talk to Her", but the truth is that this is not the main reason for its fame. The main reason is the beach itself, which enchants any visitor to the area. So, we tell you now, this is an obligatory stop on your visit to Almeria.
It is a beach for everyone, comfortable for families and friends. But if your idea is nudism, you will also find an area where you can do it without any problem.
How to get to Mónsul beach
The best of the Playa de Mónsul is tranquillity than here, as it is quite far from urban centres. Exactly, it is located in the locality of San José (Almería)There are several ways to get there. One of them is by car, which from the centre of San José will be about 5km if you follow the dirt road, which is about 15 minutes.
The Mónsul beach car park In high season it is quite limited, only about 100 vehicles can fit and once it is full, the road is closed for access by car.
So we give you two other options to get to the beach, one will be the bus passing through San José and takes you to beaches such as Monsul, Genoveses and others. The bus leaves every 30 minutes and the ticket costs about €1,50.
And the other is on foot, of course. From your town, on the same dirt road as the car, it would take about 1 hour.
The car park at Mónsul Beach
As we have already mentioned, parking is limited. During the off-season months you will be able to find a parking space for sure, but in the summer months it is not so easy to find one. Even so, if you get up a little early, you can get a parking space for sure. The beach car park is 300 metres from the beach, which is about a 5-minute walk along a fairly flat road - very convenient! You'll have to pay €5 a day, but only during the high season, the rest of the year it's totally free.

Where to eat in Mónsul Beach
Remember that this beach is far from any kind of service, so you should be prepared with water, at least. And if your idea is to eat near here, you should know that there is no beach bar or beach bar on the beach itself. The closest you will have the option of eating is at the "Fábrica de los Genoveses", about 1.5 kilometres away. But it is worth it, as here you will have a variety of very good Mediterranean food. You can also go to San José and eat at one of its restaurants.
If you decide to bring food or snacks from home, as always, do not leave any rubbish or leftovers on the beach. We think this is the most important thing to comment on.
So, now you have everything you need to know about the beach of El Mónsul. Now enjoy your visit very much.
